First Home.
Brief - First Home for a couple in Christchurch, needed to be a cost-effective building with future-proofing for expansion.
Solution - Even with a basic rectangle we were able to future-proof the dwelling using a cost-effective raking ceiling with scissor trusses and having the front section cladded in cedar.
A lot of bracing was required for the earthquake & height of the building but we were able to allow for future extensions where a window could be removed and a bridge installed where a similar structure to form a bedroom/garage wing. This allows for minimal demolition work on the existing property making the extension on a new build financially feasible.
